Flight 93 National Memorial

I visited the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, PA on Sunday while driving from Pittsburgh to the Hudson Valley.
I am deeply humbled by the architect Paul Murdoch’s design of the memorial and the Tower of Voices and the beauty of Nelson Byrd Woltz’s landscape architecture on the 1500 acre site
I left with questions about the many considerations and representations in the design, siting of the buildings and materials ie: all the exterior walls, interior and exterior, were made of stamped concrete from the Hemlock tree which represent the grove that was destroyed.
Every view was a moment of emotion. I bow to the memory of each person on Flight 93.
